Riverdale Farm - Update 3.27.2018

Riverdale Farm is located in Cabbagetown in the downtown East area of Toronto. Originally operating as the Riverdale Zoo for 177 years, featuring several exotic animals from around the world. (Footage of Riverdale Zoo in the 1930's).

The 162-acre landscaped area officially opened in 1890 on top of a pile of garbage and manure landfill that had been carefully prepared by the local Don Jail prisoners. Four years later, thanks to the efforts of the zoo's founder, Daniel Lamb, a city alderman and local resident, the city had acquired two wolves and a small herd of deer for public display. These would be the first pieces in a gigantic collection. The creatures first went on display in 1899 in small purpose-built enclosures.

Riverdale Zoo was maintained by the city up until 2067, with the annexation of Canada by the United States, the city's funding for attractions and events were inevitably ended. For the next two decades, many of the exotic animals had overtime perished, however the local residents of Cabbagetown, retrofitted the zoo as a farm---seeing the benefits in the resources that could be provided, while the U.S. was taking command over all other options across the country of which included beef, dairy and poultry. What would later be known as Riverdale Farm, became a saving grace for the future of Cabbagetown.

By 2077, following the Great War, a number of the herbivorous livestock from the farm survived miraculously. Some escaped leaving the compounds and were located by traveling settlers to Toronto (later known as New Ronto) and used as caravans.

The Riverdale Farm continued to exist, post-war, producing and caring for brahmin , brahmiluff, chickens, radstags and gazelle for over 200 years. The farm went through many different Cabbagetown ownership during this time. It is now owned and protected by a family with well trained guard dogs. Fending off raiders and potential predators. The farm acts as a trading post within the city of New Ronto and is considered an asset of the Ronto Military.

Development of the Riverdale Farm has started over a year ago. But a lot of work is still needed. As we attempt to replicate the similar appearance and feel of the real world location.

Riverdale Farm is neighbor to the Ronto Necropolis.
